there are a lot of things that can completely ruin someone's weekend. in this case, the combo of backbone troubles, eletrical input problems and satellite distortions may be more than enough to sucessfully create a grudge...

it used to be a mailing address, then telephone number, than email address and Yahoo nickname...

these days, it's "what's your IP? I need to download that installer..." 

the problem solving capability of a network admin's brain will find the simplest and fastest solution. however, it is not necessarily the best on the long run, or the most sensible according to his farsighted girlfriend..

since chivalry is considered dead, finding a decent gentlemen is a bliss. those "how to deal with guys" rules do not seem to apply to this kind of breed since they're such an open book without any puzzles and intrigues whatsoever to point that they're almost boring. just like a rule-based intelligence in Asimo, i guess...

a grandma standing -> give her your seat
a girl cries -> lend her your shoulder
a girl is insecure -> tell her you love her

it's nice, really... but having it as a routine kind a suck, really... 'coz they're still unpredictable human, so those rules sometime apply, in some unpredictable moments...

some of the faculties in campus are expanding their facilities by constructing new buildings, digging up holes for foundations and whatever, planting concrete poles...

as nosy agents of change, some of the students may blurt out on of the following comments:

• hm, wonder where the money came from
• ow, so that's why the tuition fees were raised
• when will MY faculty build something like that?
• what is that building for, anyway?
• bloody noisy constructors.. %&$#!!

the network admin's comment:
there better be no optic fibres in those holes they're digging up...

even though throughout these 3 years we both have more in common than not, there are still certain things that i consider a big deal that escape his attention. of course, this is more like a general boy-girl problem than boy-with-too-much-bandwith problem. nevertheless, i sometime become the one who seemingly having spent too much time fiddling with { & }

yep, a mushy admin is a rarity, i believe...
with the world all connected by more than a handful of medium, the impending geographical distance is still frightening.

like the soulmate thing for example.
i can't see how two people with different perspective on the concept of lifetime partner can go through with it. just realize that this is one of those things i consider big but escape his attention.

just like i experienced during the pathetic internship a few months ago, my body could not stand working with computers on daily, full-time basis for more than 3 months period. i started to get headaches and my vision somewhat blurs. upon hearing this complaint, he obviously immediately rooted for linux console for its dark feature (oh wow, it's black.. yippee)
